Collection: Fuschite

Fuschite belongs to the micas family. Micas are minerals that are frequently encountered in metamorphic rocks (gneiss) or magmatic rocks. They are recognized by their flaky appearance and their relatively fine cleavage. Fuchsite is also found in plutonic rocks (granite, pegmatite).

Fuschite is a green variety of muscovite where chromium replaces part of the aluminum. In 1850, muscovite was identified by James Dwight Dana (1813 - 1895), famous American mineralogist and geologist. Its name comes from the Latin “vitrum muscoviticum” which translates as “Moscow glass”. Indeed, this mineral was used in medieval Russia as window pane in furnaces to replace glass.

Muscovite was already known by Pliny the Elder (23 - 79 AD), who described it in his work “Natural History”. He named it “lapis specularis” meaning “stone mirror”. It is thought to mean white muscovite.

In 1842, fuschite was named in honor of the German chemist and mineralogist Johann Nepomuk Von Fuchs (1774 - 1856) by the German naturalist Karl F. Emil Von Schafhäutl (1803 - 1890). Fuchsite is also the major component of verdite, also known as “African jade”. For information, verdite is a rock widely used as an ornamental stone.

Fuschite has a monoclinic crystal system with a hardness between 2.5 and 4 on the Mohs scale. In comparison, emerald has a hardness of 8 and diamond has a hardness of 10. Fuchsite is composed of aluminum silicate, potassium, iron, sodium and chromium.

Sometimes, fuschite is nicknamed “fairy crystal” because of its sparkling light green tones, shining with a thousand glitters like stardust. Typically, it is a beautiful bright green color with some black inclusions. We find it in jewelry such as pendants or earrings, rarely in rings due to its fragility.

The main deposits are located in Brazil, India, Russia, Madagascar, and even France.

In Lithotherapy, fuschite radiates with its intense green color and releases beautiful energy. It provides feelings of well-being and calm. It is an energizing stone full of freshness.

This stone, like all micas, has a soothing action and fights effectively against feelings of anger, stress and nervous tension. Simply place a fuchsite under a pillow to get quality sleep.

Fuschite allows you to take a step back from the problems encountered and facilitates introspection. Stone of self-love, it delivers self-confidence and assurance. It promotes awareness of one's own value.

This green mineral stimulates the mind and develops intuition. It encourages exchanges with others by causing a wonderful open-mindedness. Thus, wearing a fuchsite provides softness and attention to those around you.

Fuchsite gives the ability to put things into perspective and find solutions to possible problems encountered. It develops composure and self-control.

It resolves family or professional conflicts by promoting dialogue and caring exchanges. It reduces the influence of certain people and overcomes emotional dependence. Thus, it frees the person who can finally live fully and according to their aspirations.
