Collection: Shungite - Stone of Protection

Shungite owes its name to the place from which it is extracted, in a Russian village called Shunga, located on the shore of Lake Onega.

According to legend, Xenia Godunov, daughter of Tsar Boris Fyodorovich Godunov (1551-1605), could no longer have children. But after drinking water from a spring that gushed from black stones, she regained her fertility and founded a large family.

However, the virtues of this water had been known for at least five centuries thanks to a legend which tells that a star crashed on earth. This star then transformed into water.

Later, in the 18th century, the exploitation of the virtues of this lake and its stones developed thanks to Emperor Peter the Great (1672-1725). First, he went there with his doctor to treat his fragile health. He took baths, drank shungite elixir, and his health improved greatly. He regained vitality and energy.

He then decided to fight against the dysentery which struck his soldiers. He made them drink shungite solutions renamed Waters of Mars in honor of the Roman god of war. Then, during the last ten years of his life, he built a thermal establishment near the springs and treated many people suffering from epilepsy or uremia. This is how the first thermal treatments were born.

In 1996, Americans Robert Curl, Richard Smalley and Briton Harold Kroto received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Thanks to their study, they discovered fullerenes (third known form of carbon), present in the composition of thermal waters, beneficial for certain diseases. The use of shungite in natural preparations provides many benefits.

Shungite exists in the form of two minerals:

  • Silver shungite, very rare, represents only 1% of all shungites. It has a very high fullerene content, around 98%.
  • Black shungite: the most widespread and used and easier to chisel due to its low composition of fullerenes (between 50% and 70%).

It should be noted that when there is a concentration of less than 50% fullerenes, we are talking about shungite rock and not a shungite stone.

Some farmers mix shungite with soil to make a natural mineral fertilizer. Shungite has the property of maintaining humidity and provides calcium and phosphorus. Studies were carried out in Kazakhstan on a few farms and the yield was increased by 20-40%.

The hardness of shungite is between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs scale. In comparison, diamond has a hardness of 10, the highest on this same scale.

Its existence dates back more than approximately 2 billion years. It would have been born following the mineralization of planktons. Others claim that the shungite would be pieces of the planet Phaeton, located between Mars and Jupiter. It was destroyed and gave rise to the asteroid belt. Finally, other researchers have discovered a volcanic origin for shungite.

The main deposit of shungite is therefore in Russia, in the village Shunga, on the shores of Lake Onega.

In Lithotherapy, shungite is a stone of deep anchoring to the earth. It promotes reconciliation with one's inner self. It eliminates discomfort by finding the reasons for blockages linked to childhood trauma. It allows you to move forward in life, to find the courage to overcome the difficulties encountered. It provokes a reconciliation with oneself which generates self-esteem, confidence and assurance.

It is said that this beautiful black mineral opens its wearer to creativity and success. It is a shield against the harmful energies of certain people. It drives away jealousy, resentment and bad influences.

Shungite is a stone with strong protective power against electromagnetic waves. It neutralizes radiation and disturbances caused by waves from modern wireless devices (computer, telephone, Wi-Fi, etc.). It effectively fights against cosmo-telluric nuisances (faults, groundwater tables or underground rivers).

Furthermore, for information, Régine Martino, specialist in shungite, has written a work entitled “Shungite, energy of life”. To work in a serene atmosphere or simply to be comfortable at home, shungite can be deposited anywhere and diffuse its protection.
