The etymological origin of septaria comes from the Latin “septarius” and “septarium” meaning partitioned. This stone is also called dragon stone because of its incredible patterns. It should not be confused with the dragon's blood jasper stone.

The septaria is a nodule or a mineral concretion (or a thickening around a core by accumulation of material) with a rounded shape. Its composition is different from that of the surrounding rock. It was formed in marls (clay), characterized by radial cracks (septa) which were subsequently filled with crystals.

This sedimentary or magmatic rock, probably formed in a marine environment, still remains very little known. It is not even identified by the IMA (International Mineralogical Association).

The composition of septaria is essentially made up of limestone, clay and yellow calcite. However, some septaria may contain aragonite, chalcedony, dolomite, celestine, gypsum, barite or iron pyrite. The brown variety contains chalcedony and the orange variety contains calcite.

It is a globular mass which by its composition or structure differs from the rock in which it is included. It results from the phenomenon of desiccation, the process of eliminating water from a body like dehydration.

Septaria belongs to the calcite group, of the marl family, with a calcium content that varies greatly from one piece to another. It is beige, brown, yellow, gray, black.

Depending on its composition, it has a hardness of 4 to 7 on the Mohs scale. For comparison, diamond has a hardness of 10, the highest, on this same scale. It does not have a crystal system, so it is called amorphous.

Its main deposits are located in Madagascar.

Septaria is a liberating stone. It helps dissolve emotional blockages linked to past trauma and allows you to move forward. It is an excellent meditation stone. It frees its wearer from the weight of the past and brings lightness to their life. It gives back the desire to laugh, to enjoy life, to discover new strength.

Septaria wards off fears, anxieties and anxiety. It provides serenity and destroys this armor which prevents the person from living and flourishing in harmony with the world. This stone generates gentleness and security. It is calming and promotes quality communication with others. It improves the ability to assimilate information and the acuity of thinking.

It is a stone of self-confidence, which restores confidence and esteem. It is also an anchoring stone that allows the person to enjoy the present moment, providing balance and stability. It is perfect for people who are too shy and close in on themselves.

Furthermore, septaria would have an action against psychic attacks. It can serve as an emotional shield and resist negative and malicious energies. It soothes anger and resentment.
