It should be noted that the nuummite stone has several spellings, such as nuumite, numite and nuummite. The commonly used spelling is nuummite.

This stone got its name because of the place where it was found. Indeed, this stone comes from a mountainous, remote and steep region north of Nuuk in Greenland. This deposit was discovered in 1982 and is still exploited today. But the extraction conditions are complicated and dangerous.

Almost identical rocks have been found in Canada, Spain and the United States, but their quality does not reach those of Greenland. This variety remains rare and precious. It has the quality required in jewelry making.

Scientists say that nuummite is the oldest mineral on Earth. The formation of this stone dates back more than 3 billion years with volcanic origins.

Its composition is unique, based on antophyllite, a mineral species from the silicate group, and gedrite, a mineral belonging to the amphibole group and made up of iron, calcium or magnesium silicates. In this case, nuummite is therefore a silicate of magnesium and iron.

Nuummite appears in the form of anthracite gray to black crystals with iridescent gold reflections. It presents a phenomenon of iridescence due to the passage of light in the thin layers of the rock. The iridescence of this stone is red, yellow, green, purple, blue or silver.

It was metamorphic influences that helped produce this incredible blend of crystals that gives nuummite its unique appearance. It is also these magnificent iridescent reflections that are sought after by collectors and jewelers. True nuummite remains rare, because its supply is complicated.

Nuummite has a hardness of 2.8 to 3.3 on the Mohs scale, making it a relatively soft stone. In comparison, diamond has the highest hardness, 10 on this same scale.

For the record, this stone is also nicknamed “sorcerers’ stone” or “magicians’ stone”. He is attributed with various powers in magic. Furthermore, this mineral has been known to the Vikings since the 10th century. However, there is no myth or legend about this fabulous stone.

The main deposits are located in Greenland and Finland.

Nuummite is an extremely powerful stone with many virtues. It allows introspection and understanding of buried traumas. This understanding makes it easier to resolve certain blockages and gives a new perspective on life. This stone of optimism helps get rid of bad memories and past hurts.

It develops determination and willpower. It releases the stimulation and stubbornness necessary for the accomplishment of goals. It circulates energies throughout the body and head. Confused thoughts dissipate and transform into clear ideas. It makes you want to move forward and overcome obstacles.

This stone is also a very powerful protective stone. It acts as a shield against toxic people around you and negative energies. It also repels electromagnetic waves. She is able to cleanse bad, disturbing thoughts.

Nuummite gives the courage to keep one's commitments. It deeply roots its wearer and gives them assurance and self-confidence. He can then start from scratch and get what he wants. Nothing can destabilize him. He can then honor his commitments to others. He becomes a reliable, serious and above all serene person.
