Pinolite Or pinolith owes its name to magnesite inclusions shaped like pine cones or pinions. Indeed, the word “pinolith” literally translates to “pine stone”.

This stone is actually a metamorphic rock composed of magnesite in the form of white crystals, graphite and gray dolomite. Magnesite is a white porous mineral. This stone was named thus because of its chemical composition: magnesium and its place of discovery: Magnesia in Greece.
