Iron eye is a stone resulting from a mixture of several minerals. It is also called hematoid jasper. This brown and golden mineral is a derivative of tiger's eye. It is composed of hematite and magnetite, tiger's eye and red jasper.

Hematite and magnetite are ferrous oxides which give the stone its dark, metallic appearance. Tiger's eye gives it magnificent golden inclusions. And finally, jasper provides a beautiful red tint.

The iron eye is therefore an aggregate of minerals presented in the form of layers and which form designs similar to golden landscapes. As a reminder, an aggregate is “the union of distinct elements which forms a whole”. The dominant elements are ferrous oxides. They are the origin of this beautiful metallic shine, hence the name of the “iron eye” stone.

This stone alone combines the powers and benefits of three different minerals:

  • red jasper, which has a high concentration of iron dioxide, giving it this incredible red color. It is made up of 85% silica and belongs to the quartzite family;

  • hematite is essentially composed of oxygen, iron, titanium, aluminum and manganese;

  • Tiger's eye also belongs to the quartzite family. It is made up of silicon dioxide, amphibole (non-dangerous form of asbestos in stone form) and quartz.

The formation of the iron eye took place approximately 3 billion years ago. This rock has undergone metamorphic crushing of sediments rich in quartz and limonite. In fact, its structure has been modified under the action of heat and pressure. Note: limonite is a set of oxides and hydroxides of iron and clay.

Its folded band structure and its hardness are the result of tectonic movements, the strong heat and pressure that this rock underwent during the metamorphosis process.

Iron eye has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. The highest hardness, 10, is that of diamond. It can thus be worked by jewelers in the manufacture of jewelry such as rings, bracelets and pendants.

It is also widely used in lithotherapy. Indeed, this rock is very powerful due to its constitution.

There are no myths or legends relating to this iron eye stone. We only know that it was used by Roman warriors when they went into battle.

It served as a protective amulet. It protected its wearer from injury, attempted poisoning, insect stings, reptile bites and death.

The iron eye also increased the physical strength, energy and rage of fighters.

The main deposits are located in South Africa, Australia, etc.

In Lithotherapy, iron eye has many virtues due to this association of 3 minerals. It gives its wearer unfailing optimism. She helps him overcome life's difficulties. It relieves emotional shocks such as the loss of a loved one, an unwanted divorce or unfair dismissal.

This stone is also a powerful shield against attacks from negative people. Not only does it protect its wearer, but it has a mirror function. She can thus turn the attack against the person who initiated it.

The iron eye increases the ability to concentrate and memorize. This stone is recommended for students or for people undertaking training. It is recommended to place it in your work environment, on your desk for example.

This mineral is nicknamed the stone of the shy. It gives assurance and self-confidence. It encourages you to have strong morale and the strength to achieve your set goals. The red jasper contained in this stone increases energy and vitality.

The iron eye, like all stones comprising the name eye, helps protect its wearer against negative emotions and energies, against jealousy, envy and anger.

It is an anchor stone. It eliminates stress. Its wearer fully lives the present moment. He is more stable and ready to manage his emotions. He fights effectively against his hypersensitivity. He is also more open to others and shows more tolerance.
