Maligano jasper was first found around 2011 near the village of Maligano on the island of Kendari (Sulawesi, southeast of Celebes).
Colored jasper consists mainly of yellow, orange, red and pink material, which has been cemented with white, gray or black quartz - Maligano jasper is therefore a typical breccia jasper.
