Colors and patterns vary from stone to stone.
The breathtaking colors of multicolored fluorite are the origin of its reputation. Multicolored fluorite is a variety of calcium fluoride. Most of the crystallizations of this mineral are cubic in shape. It has the ability to represent all the colors of the light spectrum and can even become fluorescent under violet light. This stone turns out to be semi-transparent, of an incredible brilliance in addition to its incredible colors. We can note a great richness in the chromatic variations. Indeed, its colors vary from purple, pink, brown to yellow, blue, green, etc. Basically, fluorite is colorless and it is the presence of organic compounds or metals, chromogenic elements, which determine its color. To date, it is the most colorful stone in the world. The most popular colors in fluorite are blue, yellow, green, and purple. But the most spectacular specimens are those that are multicolored. Others also have the ability to change color depending on the light present. In 1797, the naturalist Carlo Antonio Galeani Napione (1757-1814) named this mineral "fluere" which translates to "melting" or "melting". This stone was already used as a flux in metallurgy or steelmaking. It has also had other names such as "fluorspar", "fluorite" or "calcium fluorine". Steel manufacturers use it as a flux and this stone is also the origin of the production of hydrofluoric acid and all the derived products such as aluminum fluoride. In industry, fluorine is also used in the production of enamel, lenses for astronomy, translucent glass such as spectacle lenses. It is renowned for its refraction and chromatic dispersion capacities. This stone is mainly found in granite mines and metamorphic rock mines (rock that has undergone a mineralogical and structural transformation due to an increase in temperature or pressure) with other metallic minerals, such as zinc, lead and silver sulfides. Since Antiquity, the exceptional colors of fluorite have seduced many civilizations. Multicolored or rainbow fluorite is very popular. Indeed, it alone combines all the shades in a crystal that is often cubic in shape. The Egyptians made statuettes, amulets in the form of pendants, various jewelry in fluorite of different colors. In China, green fluorite replaced jade in ornamental objects. On the other hand, purple fluorite protected against evil spirits. The Greeks made their famous murrhin vases, which became extremely precious objects. Nowadays, it has been established that murrhe was in fact fluorite. During archaeological excavations, fragments of fluorite objects were discovered in the ruins of Pompeii, a city infamous for its disappearance during an eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. In the Middle Ages, fluorite had the sweet name of "ore flower". In the 18th century, fluorite mines were discovered in the Sheffield region of England. These fabulous stones had two colors: blue and yellow and were named "Blue John". In France, in the 19th century, in 1861, during the construction of the Paris Opera, fluorite was used to shape the balustrades of the grand staircase. It is worth noting the fragility of this stone which has a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale (for information: diamond has a hardness of 10). The main deposits of fluorite are located in China, Canada, France, etc. In Lithotherapy, multi-colored fluorite has the enormous advantage of benefiting from the virtues of all colors of fluorine. It is a very powerful protective stone. It helps to ward off all attempts at external influence and destroys all harmful influences. This stone effectively fights against all kinds of psychological blockages. It facilitates introspection and thus provokes understanding of the origin of the blockages. Thus, it increases the chances of moving forward and no longer being held back by one's past. Multicolored fluorite optimizes concentration and brings intellectual clarity. It cleanses the mind of negative energies that spoil understanding. It is a stone that is excellent for learning of all kinds. It organizes thoughts and structures ideas. It can stimulate the brain and lead to good decision-making, even in cases of high pressure. It chases away destructive emotions such as anguish, fear, anxiety, and malaise. Thus, it soothes the mind, fights against stress and gives a certain serenity. It helps to overcome anger, disappointment and sadness. Multicolored fluorite restores great self-confidence and fights against shyness. It helps to remove complexes. It identifies emotions in general and balances them. It accentuates intuition and clairvoyance. Multicolored fluorite is a stone that increases creativity and is particularly suitable for people working in the world of arts, communication or writing. This stone is a stone of impartiality and it allows a rather solitary person to easily integrate into a group. It develops feelings of compassion, tolerance and empathy, providing quality relationships with others.
