Unakite belongs to the family of altered granites. It consists of aluminum, iron and calcium silicate. Its inclusions of green epidote, orthoclase (pink to orange feldspar) and colorless quartz give it a very surprising range of colors. Indeed, its basic color changes from green-yellow to dark green, then it displays spots which vary from pink to reddish. Its monoclinic crystal system gives it crystals with an irregular appearance generating all kinds of shapes.
In 1975, the geologist M. BRADLEY made the discovery of this fabulous stone in the mountains called Unaka Range, located in North Carolina in the United States. He then named it Unakite. Extracted from hydrothermal, metasomatic and metamorphic rocks, unakite is a relatively recent stone.
Thus, there are no legends or myths related to this stone. It is therefore a completely new stone in the eyes of geologists. Sometimes unakite is confused with epidote. In fact, they are distinguished by the absence of quartz in epidote, which displays very few pink spots due to feldspar.
Unakite has a hardness of 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale. For comparison, diamond has the highest hardness, 10 on this same scale. It is therefore very popular with jewelers who can work with it and create all kinds of jewelry. It is also widely used in the manufacture of statuettes representing deities, such as Buddha. Its varied and original colors allow for unique creations.
Its main deposits are located in Brazil, South Africa, etc.
Unakite is a stone of resilience. It allows you to rebuild yourself after a bereavement, a romantic failure, or unfair dismissal. It helps combat unexplained feelings of unease. It promotes introspection and reconnection with one's inner self. It can thus remove certain blockages due to childhood trauma. It gives the strength to accept them and overcome them in order to move forward better in life.
Thus, it is beneficial for people who lack confidence and self-esteem. It restores confidence to people who devalue themselves, often following a personal or professional failure. It encourages them to start again, to try again and not to accept defeat too easily. It allows you to overcome frustration following failures.
This stone promotes the evacuation of negative energies, such as anger, resentment and jealousy. The person becomes more conciliatory and forgives more easily. She opens up to unsuspecting others and enjoys sharing with them. She shows a lot of empathy, compassion and understanding. Furthermore, people suffering from excessive temperament learn to moderate their ardor and manage their anger.
