Chlorite quartz is a mineral species belonging to the silicate group and the tectosilicate subgroup. It is composed of carbon dioxide with inclusions of different elements. It can appear in the form of large colorless, colored or smoky crystals depending on the type of quartz.

Chlorites are found in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. These are secondary minerals of bauxite deposits. In metamorphic rocks, chlorites appear as mica schists (rocks made up of sheet minerals) based on quartz.

Chlorites are produced by the decomposition of ferromagnesian minerals. Chlorite quartz is above all a rock crystal with a strong presence of chlorites.

The etymology of the name quartz has two hypotheses. Either the name quartz comes from the name “quaterz” meaning bad ores until the 16th century or the other hypothesis would be the contraction of the German name “gewärz” designating an excrescence.

In the Middle Ages, this name quartz was applied to all crystals. Georgius Agricola (1494-1555), a famous scholar considered a specialist in mineralogy and metallurgy, restricted this term to rock crystals.

The etymology of the name chlorite comes from the Latin “chloritis” or green stone, a term which comes from the Greek “khlôritis” or chloros or green in reference to the color of minerals. It should be noted that this stone contains absolutely no chlorine. The first mention of chlorite in France dates from 1578 during the description of a green colored precious stone.

Chlorite quartz stone has a low hardness between 2 and 2.5 on the Mohs scale. For comparison, diamond has a maximum hardness of 10 on this same scale.

The main deposits are located in Brazil.

Chlorite quartz is a stone with powerful virtues. It acts as a purifier of negative emotions and impulsive, thoughtless behavior. It allows its wearer to become aware of the present moment. It is an excellent anchoring stone. It releases remorse from the past and calms fears about the future. It releases blockages caused by certain past traumas.

Green in color, it symbolizes renewal. It is the color of spring, of the rebirth of trees and of nature in general. It is particularly indicated during new beginnings in life such as a move, a change of job or a new romantic relationship.

It also allows you to overcome the difficulties of life by bringing serenity and peace. It avoids panic and provides harmony. Thus, the wearer of the stone quickly finds solutions to problems. He is thus led to think calmly in order to clarify the situation.

Chlorite quartz encourages inner balance and discovery of others. It engenders feelings of compassion and empathy. It opens its wearer to others and develops their understanding. He really tries to help his interlocutor. Thus, his company is very often sought after.
