Tiger's eye is a tiger mineral with yellow and brown colors. It is made of amosite which is one of the six varieties of fibers whose trade name is asbestos. Silica has gradually replaced these fibers through the phenomenon of pseudomorphosis (one mineral appears with the appearance of another).

This stone, like all stones bearing the name eye, belongs to the microcrystalline quartz family. There is also red-brown bull's eye (which in some cases is heated tiger's eye), blue-tinted hawk's eye, metallic-tinted iron-eye. These stones have remarkable chatoyance. This is an optical effect formerly called cat's eye.

The name tiger's eye appeared later in Europe, because of its resemblance to the eye of the wild beast. In reality, these are the fibers of the stone which display a gradient of colors, changing depending on the angle of view. There is also the golden tiger's eye. It is a tiger's eye with golden yellow colors.

Tiger's eye is an opaque and hard stone. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. In comparison, diamond has the highest hardness, 10 on this same scale. Nowadays, this stone is widely used in jewelry making. It is also used in lithotherapy because of its energetic powers.

In Mesopotamia, we find traces of the tiger's eye, then called Bellus' eye (oculus Bellus). At this time, Bellus Marduk was an important god in Babylon. He was appointed to exterminate the goddess Tiamat, mother of the gods. After this fight, he pacified the gods and gave each of them a function. Then he created the heavens, the earth, the waters, the years, the stars, etc. The other gods founded Babylon where his palace was built.

Another legend tells that before each departure for long journeys, men made their wives drink with a very special preparation. They soaked a tiger's eye stone in milk. The objective was to guarantee the fidelity of their wife or at least the absence of pregnancy in the event of a discrepancy.

During archaeological excavations, amulets, made of tiger's eye, were discovered. They date from the Roman Empire. At that time, Roman warriors went into battle with a tiger's eye amulet. She was to protect them from injury and death.

In the Middle Ages, tiger's eye was used to repel bad spells, evil spirits and other spells. It protected against poisoning, stings or bites from insects or venomous snakes. For millennia, the eye of the tiger has had a very strong protective role.

First identified in South Africa in the 1800s, this stone commanded extremely high prices. In fact, it was thought to be very rare. Then at the beginning of the 20th century, other deposits were discovered and the price of tiger's eye collapsed. This stone therefore became more accessible to the general public.

The main deposits are located in South Africa, Australia, China, etc.

Tiger's eye, like many stones containing the name eye, has strong protective powers. It is also an anchoring stone. It protects its wearer from harmful influences by returning them to their transmitter. Thus, she makes him aware of the consequences of his actions.

This stone develops confidence in oneself and towards others. It promotes introspection and allows you to discover the origin of certain emotional blockages. It reveals the true personalities of the people we meet. It brings courage and audacity, strengthens determination and confidence. By lowering emotional barriers, friendly and romantic relationships are more harmonious.

Tiger's eye brings calm and balance. This mineral helps overcome negative emotions, such as worry, anxiety, restlessness and shyness. It is ideal for protecting yourself from jealous and envious people. It engenders autonomy, a strong independence of mind and a wonderful freedom of thought.

This mineral brings energy and vitality. He develops the desire to make plans and achieve his goals. It is perfect for students, people in training or retraining. It increases concentration and memorization. This stone helps with creativity and improves open-mindedness. It gives the opportunity to overcome the difficulties of life. It stimulates willpower and allows for better self-affirmation.
