Grossular green garnet is a mineral, belonging to the garnet family, composed of aluminum and calcium. The color of grossular garnet can vary from green to yellow, brown to red, orange to black. The variety of grossular garnet with a color identical to emerald is called tsavorite. It comes from the Tsavo Natural Park, located in Kenya. Tsavorite is rich in vanadium and chromium. It is the best known grossular green garnet.
For the record, garnet is a family of minerals from the nesosilicate group, having a cubic crystal system. Gem quality garnets are fine stones. The most common color of garnets is red, but there is a whole range of garnets in different shades. It should be noted that there is no such thing as blue garnet.
The hardness of garnets, 6.5 to 7.0 on the Mohs scale (which ranges from 1 to 10), allows them to be used as an abrasive in industry. Historically, this stone, much more widespread than sapphire or ruby, was used to engrave other stones such as agates, jaspers and ivory.
Furthermore, garnets are used by geologists because they are valuable sources of information as a geothermobarometer. In fact, they make it possible to establish the temperature and/or pressure at which a rock is formed. This tells geologists whether a rock has the conditions to contain diamonds or oil.
Garnet is a mineral known since Antiquity. Roman, Egyptian and Greek civilizations used garnet in the sculpture of faces or animals.
In the Bible, it is said that Noah guided his ark into the flood using garnet lanterns. The Vikings, during funeral ceremonies, used garnet to allow their dead to reach paradise.
Theophrastus, a philosopher from ancient Greece (-372/-287 BC) discovered garnet stones and nicknamed them “anthrax” meaning “coal”. Then, Pliny the Elder, Roman naturalist (23-79 AD) named the Almandine garnet “carbunculus” or “burning coal”.
In 1270, Albert the Great, German theologian and philosopher (1193-1280) discovered this mineral and decided to give it the name “malum granatum” translated as pomegranate.
Closer to home, in Asia, warriors in Pakistan replaced their lead bullets with garnet bullets, which were considered more lethal.
The main deposits are located in Mali, the United States, Canada, India, and Madagascar.
Grossular green garnet is particularly suitable for young teenage girls who are too emotional, too dreamy, and even introverted. It gives them serenity and self-confidence. It erases complexes and opens up communication with others. Highly sensitive people learn to manage their emotions.
Grossular green garnet can reveal blockages or traumas buried in the unconscious. It makes it easier to become aware of these blockages and thus makes it possible to overcome them. In this way, it becomes possible to move forward in life, make plans and achieve your goals.
This green mineral is extremely energizing and restores enthusiasm to people who tend to let themselves go. It makes you want to do things. It is excellent for people in career change or students.
This stone diffuses positive energy and absorbs negative energies from people around you or from yourself. It is particularly suitable for people who are too calm, because it provides them with vitality. It is a stone of well-being and joy of living. It brings lightness and carefreeness to life.
Grossular green garnet facilitates the management of strong emotions such as anger, resentment and desires for revenge. It provides calm and relief.
