Scientists have called the crystal "AURALITE-23" the "oldest gemstone in the world"
These Crystals, dating back approximately 1.2 billion years, having been formed during the Meso-Proterozoic era, when multicellular creatures first emerged and began to flourish.
Due to meteoric impacts several rare metallic ores were incorporated into its Amethyst nature, it is now called Auralite.
