Angelite is a stone that owes its name to the English expression "the angel stone", which literally means the stone of angels. It is part of the anhydrite family, which comes from the Greek name "anhudros" and which translates to "without water". It is impossible to date its appearance precisely and we have no legend that relates to this stone. It was discovered in 1804 by Abraham Gottlob Werner (1750 - 1817) who was a Saxon mineralogist and geologist.

This stone has the particularity of having a composition without water. Traditionally, this stone is associated with wisdom, spiritual fullness. It is said that if you place this stone under an intense light, you can see the soul of an angel. If you choose to buy an angelite, you can claim to access peace of mind.

This stone is commonly used in jewelry in the form of a cabochon, encrusted in a jewel. Its very particular blue color easily distinguishes it from other stones. Its blue can be nuanced, it can be either light or dark. But whatever it is, this color on jewelry is intriguing and leaves no one indifferent. Moreover, there is a choir called Angelite, Les Voix Bulgares, because these voices evoke those of angels.

Angelite stone is a crystal composed mainly of calcium sulfate. It is a type of natural sulfate, usually milky blue in color. The intensity of its blue is mainly due to its composition and geographical origin. However, in some cases, the angelite stone may have a white, pink or purple color. This phenomenon occurs in the presence of metals, thus changing its hue. Stone lovers and connoisseurs are more sensitive to the various blues of angelite stone.

Angelite is part of the orthorhombic crystal system, a system whose elementary mesh is a right prism with a rectangular base. The 3 axes are of more or less different lengths, but with angles all equal to 90°. It has a conchoidal fracture, that is to say frank, curved and smooth or an irregular fracture. Its luster is different, it can be oily vitreous, waxy or pearly. We find transparent to translucent ones.
The main deposits are located in Peru

In lithotherapy, angelite is a stone of serenity, it is not a stone of combat, but a stone of acceptance. It causes the development of inner peace, promotes patience and self-acceptance. At the same time, this awareness can lead to a rebirth, which allows the appeasement of psychological and emotional pain, bitterness and frustrations.

Angelite causes endurance and stability, dispels fear, anger, anxiety. It is a comforting stone, full of compassion. It gives quality sleep, filled with beautiful dreams, which helps fight against stress and tension. It is ideal in the management of emotionality, provides liberating breathing.

The wearers of this stone will gain confidence and have great self-confidence. They will finally be able to express themselves loud and clear. In addition, they are more open to others, filled with compassion and empathy.

Anger and mood swings quickly dissipate with the wearing of angelite. It establishes peace and relaxation of the body and soul. Thus, it is said to be the Stone of Angels and to maintain the link with the protective angels, opening the path to spirituality.

This stone is known to make nightmares disappear in children. Simply place a stone under the mattress of the disturbed child and he will find a peaceful sleep.
